Abby Gibson Robinson, born January 30, 1936, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

Abby’s life was marked by devotion to learning, faith, music, and family. She fell in love with school in the first grade and knew from 1942 onward that she wanted to become a teacher. That calling shaped her life’s work, and she went on to teach first grade for 31 years, guiding and encouraging generations of young children during their earliest school days. She attended Appalachian State Teachers’ College, now Appalachian State University, and later earned her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Music and church were central parts of Abby’s life. She and her husband, Max, shared a deep love of music and enjoyed attending many kinds of concerts together. They sang in church choirs and, for many years, were members of the Golden Chorus of Gaston County. They were also life members of the Board of Directors of the Gaston Concert Association. Faith was a steady foundation for Abby and her family. During 45 years as members of Unity Baptist, she and Max served faithfully as choir members, worked on many committees, taught Sunday School, and she served as Bible school director for 31 years. After joining First Baptist Church in 2006, they continued singing in the choir for as long as they were physically able.

Among Abby’s greatest joys and proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, who remained at the heart of her life.

She is survived by her beloved children, her son George Gibson Robinson, and her daughters Melissa Euchner and Cynthia Stelzig. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Catherine Euchner and Clint Euchner, and her great-grandchildren, Saydee and Gunner Henry. Abby is also survived by her brother, Harry Lee Gibson, and her sister, Karen Jenkins. She will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by her family, whose lives were shaped by her care, example, and enduring faith.

Abby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Max Robinson, and by her parents, Porter Gibson and Meta Belle Gibson.
