Andy Simonds

 Joseph Andrew “Andy” Simonds

Loving husband, father, son and brother being surrounded by his earthly family made his grand and joyful entrance into the waiting arms of his heavenly family on October 6th 2022. Andy was preceded in passing by his beloved son, Jay Simonds, his grandmother Inez Payne and his mother-in-law Shelby Nicholson.

Andy is survived by the love of his life and high school sweetheart Kris Simonds, his son Aaron Simonds, his daughter Karley Simonds, Parents John and Faye Simonds, His sisters Cindy Beck and Family, Raina Dawes and Family and his brother Daniel Simonds and family. To numerous cherished nieces and nephews, he was the “Funcle” (Fun Uncle). Andy served with excellence in the US Army National Guard Engineering Unit.  Andy’s capstone of his career was Serving as a Superintendent at Edifice.  He built several impressive projects. Two of those that Andy enjoyed were at Covenant Day School and Carmel Christian School (both in Matthews). The teams that worked with Andy would tell you his projects were more than just work, “he gave his heart to those around him.” The clients loved him, the students loved him. He was more than their Superintendent, he was “a great friend and brother in Christ.”

Andy also drew the best from his subcontractors through his encouraging attitude and intelligent assistance. He was counted as one of the best they worked with. Everyone at Edifice that knew Andy also felt his kindness, dedication, and love for his fellow employees. His enthusiasm was contagious and he made us all better people because of the love he had for each of us.

Andy will be greatly missed by his Edifice family and the construction community as a whole! But each of us that had the blessing of knowing Andy will carry him with us in the way we approach our jobs and the people we have the privilege to work with. He was a well-respected Construction Superintendent at Edifice LLC.

Andy was also a member of high regard of the Pastor’s Council at Union Road Church. Andy impacted lives all around the world with his tireless home improvements, mission work and his love of everything outdoors.

Besides his family, as all friends become family too, Andy’s passions were Missions Outreach, music, hunting, fishing, being an expert craftsman and BBQ Pitmaster. Andy will be missed by all who ever met him.
