Ann Sutton Cloninger

Dallas – Ann Sutton Cloninger, 86, passed away at her residence on August 22, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Ann was born in Swain County, North Carolina on August 15, 1936 to the late Andrew Jackson Sutton and Thelma Davis Sutton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Mervin G. Cloninger; brother, Cooper Lee Sutton; and sister, Eloine Moores.

Ann was a longtime member, of 65 years, at Antioch Lutheran Church. She worked at Homelite to help put kids through college. Ann was a kindergarten, first, and second grade teacher and a youth leader. She loved knitting baby blankets to donate to babies, gardening, puzzles, and mowing her lawn.

Left to cherish her memory is son, Michael G. Cloninger (Terri); daughter, LeAnn Cloninger Thompson (Chris); brother, Mac Sutton; sister, Jackie Dubay; grandchildren, Mandy Lei Cloninger, Julie Cloninger, Thomas Cloninger, Tabetha Cloninger, Christopher Thompson (Anna), Adam Thompson (Ashley), Andrew Thompson (Alexa); great-grandchildren, Brantley, Aubrey, Riley, Avery, Dawson, and Sadie Ann.

The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 25, 2022 in the family life center at Antioch Lutheran Church in Dallas. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in the Garden of Peace at the church cemetery.
