Arthur Harrison Christopher, III, known affectionately as "Uncle Chris," passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Born on May 31, 1953, in Gaston County, NC, Chris had a spirit that embodied fun and joy, serving as a loving family member and a treasured friend to many.
Chris enjoyed a fulfilling career with Freightliner, dedicating over ten years to the company before his retirement. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family. He was a proud veteran, having served honorably in the U.S. Marines during the early 1970s, a period that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty.
Family gatherings were a highlight of Chris's life, where his love for cooking, especially preparing ham for the family dinner, shone brightly. Those who knew him will fondly remember his passion for all kinds of music, which often accompanied the laughter and love shared during these cherished times.
Chris is survived by his beloved daughter, Lisa Nicole Christopher, and his granddaughter, McKinzie Nicole Christopher. He also leaves behind his sister, Barbara Little, as well as Jan Love (Sam), Freida Moore (Vince), and Yvonne Furr. He will be remembered fondly by his special nephew, Chad Jones, and his numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Harrison Christopher, Jr. and Johnnie Rae Clary Christopher, whose memory will forever be woven into the fabric of his family's legacy.
The celebration of Chris's life will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home in Gastonia. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park.
Chris's life was a testament to the love of God and his family and the joy found in togetherness; he was a wonderful Christian and loved the Lord. . His legacy will live on through the countless memories he created with those he cherished most.
