Barbara Ann Sosebee Frady

Barbara Ann Sosebee Frady, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2024, in Gastonia, North Carolina. She was born on April 6, 1934, in Oconee County, South Carolina to the late Rube and OraLee Chastain Sosebee.  Barbara's life was dedicated to caring for others and bringing joy to those around her.

Barbara had a remarkable career that spanned across different fields. She retired from Textiles,  and later started  operating Barbara's Daycare for many years and found great fulfillment in nurturing and tending to children. She also worked at Tony's Ice Cream in Gastonia in the 1960's.


Those who knew Barbara will always remember her loving heart and her generosity towards others. She had a special talent for cooking and took great pleasure in preparing delicious meals for family and friends. Her culinary creations brought people together and created lasting memories.

Barbara attended the North Gaston Church of God, Dallas. Her faith was a guiding light in her life and it inspired her to live with kindness, compassion, and selflessness. Barbara's connection with God allowed her to touch the lives of those around her and make a positive impact on her community.

One of Barbara's proudest accomplishments was building a loving family. She shared nearly 50 years of marriage with her husband, Lewis Earl Frady. Together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Barbara leaves behind three loving sons: Randy Frady (Donna), Barry Frady (Cindy), and Todd Frady (Rhonda). Her sons were a source of immense pride and joy for her.

Barbara was also blessed with wonderful grandchildren who brought immeasurable happiness into her life: Tiffany Roper (Scott), Tyler Frady (Ashley), Justin Frady (Courtney), Ashley Stalvey (Wesley), Amber Frady, and adopted granddaughter Victoria Nguyen. Her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Bailee, and Emma Roper, Olivia Frady, Adilyn, Zane, Maddox Frady, and Savannah Stalvey filled her days with laughter and love.

Barbara had a tight-knit family that included her brother Gene Sosebee and sisters Margaret Shirley and Sue Baldwin (Charles). She was preceded in death by her siblings, Hazel Brewer, Hill, Bill, Donald, Larry and Mickey Sosebee.  She cherished the bond they shared and valued their support throughout her life. Barbara was also grateful for the love and care provided by her caregiver Sherry Pruett, who served as her dedicated caregiver. The Village Square Apartment Family became an extended family to Barbara and enriched her life with friendship and companionship.

In addition to her immediate family, Barbara leaves behind cherished memories with numerous nieces and nephews whose lives she touched in meaningful ways. Her impact on their lives will always be remembered.

The memory of Barbara will be honored at services held at the North Gaston Church of God located at 1310 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034. The visitation will take place on January 13, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A celebration of Barbara's life will follow at 1:00 PM. with Pastor Andy Nicholson and Amber Frady officiating.  Interment will follow at Armstrong Cemetery, 703 Osceola Street Gastonia. Pallbearers will be Tyler Frady, Justin Frady, Scott Roper, Jackson Frady, Wesley Stalvey, and Jimmy Stewart. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. She touched the lives of countless individuals through her selflessness and caring nature. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate a life well-lived and remember the joy she brought to our world. Barbara's spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

May she rest in eternal peace.
