Becky Russell Barr

Becky Russell Barr, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, has passed away at the age of 76. She was born on August 7, 1947, in Gaston County to the late James Dolan and Pauline Ford Russell. Becky will be remembered for her loving nature and the joy she brought to those around her.

Throughout her life, Becky found fulfillment in being a homemaker. Her passion for creating a warm and inviting home led her to develop various talents. She was a realtor, worked at Threads, Inc., sold Avon, and she enjoyed most of all working for Gastonia Pediatric for many years.
In addition to her many skills, she enjoyed Duke Basketball, cooking, watching scary movies with her children. She also enjoyed visiting and talking with her family in Virginia Beach. Her dad came from a large family of 13. She never met a stranger, always had a big smile on her face. She loved her many cats, especially Brutus.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surrounded by loved ones, Becky peacefully passed away on September 18, 2023, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew her. Becky’s family and friends will come together to honor her memory on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Angie Hollar officiating. The family will receive friend from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Evergreen “A Quiet Place”.
Becky leaves behind a cherished family who will forever hold her in their hearts. She was the beloved wife of Wayne Barr for 51 years and the loving mother of Ashlee Lee and Laura Barr; her grandchildren Zachary and Rebekah Lee brought her immense joy and filled her days with cherished memories. In addition to her immediate family, as well as several nieces, nephews and many cousins
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Maghen Lee, brothers, Barry and Jimmy Russell and a sister, Bonnie Flowe. Although they have now reunited in the heavenly realm, their absence will be deeply felt by those left behind.
Throughout her life, Becky's proudest accomplishments were centered around her family. She dedicated herself to nurturing strong bonds with each member of her kin. The love she poured into their lives created a tapestry of cherished moments that will endure through generations.
In celebrating Becky's life, let us remember the way she touched our souls with her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration as we navigate the days ahead.

As we bid farewell to Becky, let us also hold dear the memories we shared with her. Let us find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on within each of us, guiding us towards love, compassion, and the pursuit of a purpose-filled life. Rest peacefully, dear Becky. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
