Gastonia – Belle McCarter Sanders, 101, joined her Heavenly Father on July 27th at the Robin Johnson House.
She was born in York County, SC on October 9, 1918 to the late James and Minnie Watkins McCarter. She was a Presbyterian by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,Tom Sanders and the father of her children, Sydney Franklin Houser; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jerry Mitchell; daughter, Vivian Smith; 4 brothers, Oscar McCarter, Campbell McCarter, Will McCarter, James McCarter; 5 sisters, Fearlean McCarter, Reola McKinley, Cathelene Robinson, Espia Short, Cleo Redmond; granddaughter, Marliese Lowrimore.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Verlon "Buddy" Smith of Bolivia, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; Jerry Mitchell, Jr. of Gastonia, Dean Mitchell and wife Cindi of Dallas, Susan Murphy and husband George of Rougemont, North Carolina, Jeff Smith and wife Cheryl of Bolivia, North Carolina, Jackie Trigg and husband Preston of Tampa, Florida, Gia Womack and husband Chuck of Dallas, Monica Stewart of Belmont; 12 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 30th at Gaston Memorial Park Matthew I Section with the Releasing of the Doves.
