Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Moore, a beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 28, 1933, in Gaston County, he dedicated his life to serving those around him.

Ben was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955, demonstrating a commitment to duty and country that marked the remainder of his life. His military service was a defining aspect of his identity, instilling in him the values of discipline, integrity, and community service.

Throughout his life, Ben was known for his strong faith and involvement in his local church. He was a dedicated member of Hardin Community Baptist Church, where he contributed to the spiritual growth of the congregation and fostered connections with fellow members.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 73 years, Betty Moore, with whom he shared a wonderful life filled with love and companionship. Ben is also survived by his cherished daughter, Tracy Scott and her husband Jack, and many wonderful friends. His family remembers him as a guiding force, offering wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.

Ben's legacy continues through his family’s memories and the values he instilled in them. He is also remembered by those who had the privilege to know him, as he brought joy and kindness to everyone he encountered.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred and Ollie White Moore, his daughter, Susan Roxanne Moore, and a son, Bobby Gene Moore and his brothers, Bill Moore and Samuel Moore.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM with Pastor Justin Driver officiating. Ben will be interred at Gaston Memorial Park, Singing Tower section following the services with Military Honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Farmer, Daniel Burr, Steve Brooks, Ronnie Sisk, Ken Plain, Jack Womble and Jackie Lunsford.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Courtland Terrace Assisted Living.

Ben Moore’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and service to others, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
