Betsy Ross Moore Howe, a beloved wife, caring mother, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, at Covenant Village in Gastonia. Surrounded by her loving family, Betsy's spirit departed this world as she left behind a remarkable legacy that will forever be remembered.
Born on March 23, 1931, in Gastonia, North Carolina, Betsy was the daughter of Edgar Bill Moore and Bertha Eve Stewart Moore. From her early years, she displayed warmth and kindness that would become defining traits throughout her life. Betsy's genuine affection for others was evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her. After completing her secondary education, Betsy attended Appalachian State University for one year before she met Bob, her soul mate to start their life together.

Betsy's proudest accomplishments revolved around her family. She was a nurturing and dedicated mother to her wonderful children, Jeffrey Kent Howe Sr. (Kathy), Kelly Ross Howe (Angela), and Stephanie Eve Bouras (Bill Reece). Betsy's love knew no bounds, and she poured her heart into creating a warm and nurturing home for her children. Her selflessness and unwavering support were constants throughout their lives.
Through the years, Betsy's family grew to include nine cherished grandchildren and nine adored great-grandchildren. Their presence brought immeasurable joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Betsy was not only a loving matriarch but also a friend and confidant, always there with words of wisdom or a listening ear. In addition to her immediate family, Betsy is survived by her sister Gretchen Sholar, several nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will miss her dearly. Betsy is preceded in death by her parents, her soul mate of 64 wonderful years, Bob Howe, her granddaughter, Amanda Howe, siblings, EB Moore, Anne Laurie Sprinkle, Kate Bradley and Miriam Armstrong.
Betsy's vivacious and outgoing personality brightened the lives of those around her. Her warm smile and infectious laughter were contagious. She possessed an undeniable energy that made every room she entered more vibrant. Betsy had a way of making everyone feel valued and appreciated, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. Among her many passions and interests, Betsy particularly enjoyed bridge, golfing with friends and family, as well as playing various card games. She found joy in the friendly competition and camaraderie these activities provided. Additionally, Betsy cherished the precious moments spent with her husband Bob at their beach home; these trips created treasured memories that she held close to her heart.
Betsy was married to Robert "Bob" Howe for 64 beautiful years. Their journey together was one filled with unwavering love and mutual support. As partners in every sense of the word, they shared both joys and sorrows while navigating life's ups and downs. Betsy's unwavering devotion to her husband served as an inspiration to all, a testament to power of lifelong commitment.

Visitation services in memory of Betsy Ross Moore Howe will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at Covenant Village, 1351 Robinwood Road, Gastonia. Friends and loved ones are invited to join together in commemoration of Betsy's remarkable life. As we bid farewell to Betsy, let us celebrate the impact she had on our lives. May we remember the laughter she brought, the love she shared, and the kindness she bestowed upon us all. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will remain alive in our hearts forever. Private Entombment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VIA Hospice, Attn: Elizabeth Soles, 7600 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226 or Covenant Village.
