Betty Lou Barber, affectionately known to her loved ones as "Betty Boop," was born on June 26, 1930, in Gaston County, North Carolina. She departed from this world on August 5, 2025, at Carolina Care in Cherryville, surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
A proud graduate of Clover High School, Betty dedicated a significant part of her life to her career. She worked at Threads, Inc. as a winder and was involved in sales at several establishments, including Paul Rose, Woolworth's, and Eagles Dime Store, before retiring from Bali. Her work ethic and commitment to her profession were admired by coworkers and customers alike.
Betty's greatest joys came from her family. She shared memorable times with her children, son Randy Barber (Vickie) and daughter Becky Easler, in addition to her cherished grandchildren: Shea Olson (Mark), Renee Crawford, Tabatha Robinson (Bill), Rechelle Thompson (Andy), and Vanessa Easler. With a heart full of pride, she doted on her 13 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, with the exciting anticipation of two additional great great grandchildren on the way. Her legacy as a mother and grandmother was her proudest accomplishment, and her love knew no bounds.
Betty's personality shone brightly in every aspect of her life. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, working word searches, and playing cards. She had a vibrant spirit and a green thumb, delighting in spending time in her yard. One of her fondest memories was riding motorcycles with her husband, Isaac Huber Barber, with whom she shared nearly 64 years of marriage before his passing on January 9, 2011. Almost every Friday, Betty and Huber loaded their 4 granddaughters in their station wagon to go eat at a fish camp. They never made it home without getting each girl their own bag of candy!
In addition to her beloved children and grandchildren, Betty is survived by her siblings, George Morgan (Debbie), Ronnie Morgan, Marie Freeze, and Patricia McKinney. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Troy Morgan and Ola Mae Daves Morgan, her son-in-law Joe Easley, and her great granddaughter Serena Morgan High. Betty also grieved the loss of siblings Bill Morgan, Gladys Mills, and Brenda Messer.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Betty's life during a visitation on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 9th with Pastor Jason Marlowe officiating, both held at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home in Gastonia, NC.
Betty Lou Barber leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and family spirit. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.
Pallbearers will be Isaac High, Mario High, Ruben Humes, Mark Olson, Bill Robinson and Andy Thompson.
