Betty Marie Hardison Tyner

Betty Marie Hardison Tyner, 95, entered into heaven on June 5, 2023. She passed peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living with her family by her side.

Betty was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC on May 16, 1928 to the late Vernon Swain Hardison and Mollie Everett Hardison. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, O’Neal Tyner, her daughter, Connie Lowe, six brothers and sisters.

She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, she was active in the Senior Clubs, Joy Club, Golden Age, Dallas Seniors, and XYZ Club. She was also a previous member of the Lucille Tatum Club.  She was an avid bingo player at Brookdale Assisted Living and the Dallas Seniors. Betty loved a great deal; she would buy and resale. Betty was a devoted and loving mother. She did not have an easy life, but she had a good life.

Betty was a talented seamstress and often made many things for family and friends.

She is survived by her children,  Billy Mathis of Pageland, SC, Nancy Mathis of York, SC, Gloria Hughes and husband Rick of Clover, SC, Debbie Scheringer and husband Russ of Mary Esther, FL: her wonderful grandchildren Joshua Hughes and wife Chrissy of West Richland, WA, Chris Hughes of Richland, WA, Russell Scheringer, Jr  of Crestview, FL, Celeste Scheringer of Crestview, FL; great grandchildren, Shane Hughes and wife Hailey of Richland, WA, Cassie Hughes of  Pasco, WA, Tanner Hughes of Richland, WA, Skylar Hughes of  Lakeside, CA;  Cove and Etta Hughes of Pasco, WA; and great great grandchildren, Logan Hughes of Richland, WA and Olivia Hughes of Richland, WA;  as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be AT 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 9^th at Brookdale Assisted Living, 1750 Robinwood Road, Gastonia, NC 28054 with Pastor Junior Morris officiating.
