Bill Montgomery

Gastonia – Bill Montgomery, 82, went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 6, 1940 in East Orange, New Jersey to the late William Carroll Montgomery and Margaret Taylor Montgomery.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a dedicated man of service and was always willing to help his church, family, friends, and neighbors. He was a Navy veteran.

William is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Montgomery; daughter, Susan and husband Kemp Kelly; son, Bill Montgomery; grandchildren, Will Pruitt and Lindsey Pruitt; sister, Nancy Hunting; several nieces and a nephew.

A Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2022 at Evergreen “A Quiet Place”, 1462 Armstrong Ford Road, Belmont NC 28012, with Dr. Brandon McCoy officiating.  There will be military honors at the graveside service. The family will speak to friends following the service.
