Billy Gene Jones

Belmont – Billy Gene Jones, 92, passed away July 20, 2022, at Robin Johnson House.

He was born in Gaston County, NC to the late Calvin Boone Jones and Kate Lowery Jones. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Catherine Swayney Jones who passed on October 20, 2013.

Billy was a kind hearted, hardworking, funny man. He enjoyed helping others. He was known by his family and friends as “The Legend”. Billy was a beloved father, grandfather and friend to many. He was a wonderful electrician and enjoyed his work. Billy bravely rescued two young men from a fire at Sodyeco in Mt. Holly in the 1970’s. He had also rescued two young men in a boating accident in his early years.

Left to cherish Billy’s memory is his devoted daughter, Annette Kaercher; his son, Michael Gene Jones, Sr and wife Lisa; his grandchildren, Michael Jones and wife Christy, and their children, Andrew and Ava Jones, Courtney Butler and husband Steve, and her children, Anderson and Hayden Davis, Harrison Jones and his daughter, Aven, Allison Kaercher, Zach Kaercher.

The family will receive friends at his residence from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022
