Gastonia – Boyce Millard Harvell, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Boyce was born in Gastonia on June 1, 1934, and is the son of the late Earl and Bertha Lane Harvell.

Boyce was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Talmadge "Pickle" Harvell, Bobby Harvell, Kenny Harvell, Danny Roger Harvell, and a sister, Doris Ann Harvell.

Boyce retired as a Machinist at Carolina Steel Roller after 30 + years of dedicated service. He was an avid golfer along with his brothers for many years. He enjoyed traveling the Carolinas with his golfing buddies to play in area golf tournaments. In his early years, he was a former racecar driver at Carolina Speedway. Boyce loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grands. He always looked forward to his family fish fries or family hotdog cook-outs in the backyard. Boyce will be greatly missed by all who loved him!

Boyce is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Newman Harvell; his children, David Harvell , Wanda (Jimmy) Green; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren;
one sister, Delphia Costner; numerous nieces and nephews.

Boyce will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. The family will not be present.

Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 23rd at Hollywood Cemetery with Jimmy Green officiating. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, masks will be required.

Pallbearers will be Courtney Harvell, Joe Green, Josh Green, Zach Bryson, Chris Brown and Jr. Pallbearers will be Lincoln Bryson and Zane Green.

Boyce was a former resident of ARP Manor and most recently The Wellington House. The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the compassion and care he received by his hospice nurse, Brittany Gaddis through Carolina Caring-Hickory.
