Brian Edward Buchanan, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away on July 31, 2023, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Born on July 19, 1968, Brian lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Brian's early years were marked by his dedication to education. He graduated from Ashbrook High School in 1986, where he laid the foundation for a future full of remarkable experiences. Following his graduation, Brian embarked on a journey that would lead him to touch the lives of many.
In 1990, Brian selflessly joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country. For four years, he dedicated himself to protecting and safeguarding the values that he held dear. His military service became an integral part of who he was, reflecting his unwavering commitment and love for his homeland.
Upon leaving the Navy in 1994, Brian embraced a variety of career opportunities. Among them, he found great fulfillment in commercial repoing. He tackled each job with passion and a unique perspective that made even challenging situations seem manageable. Brian worked at the Dallas Rescue Squad after high school for over 10 years. He enjoyed helping people with many different tacks. Brian proudly served with the Gaston Lodge 369 and the Shrinners.
However, Brian's proudest accomplishments were centered around his family. He cherished his role as a loving husband to Angela Harris Buchanan for an incredible 32 years. Their bond was built on strong foundations of trust and unconditional love that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Brian was also blessed with two wonderful sons: Christian Edward Buchanan and Zachary Aaron Buchanan. Christian found a loving partner in Danielle, while Zachary shares his life with Brooke. Together with their wives by their side, Brian's sons have continued to carry forward the values instilled in them by their father.
The joy of Brian's life came in the form of Oaklyn Buchanan - his adorable grandson. He reveled in the opportunity to be Pawpaw and showered him with affection and wisdom that will forever shape his character.
Brian's parents, Judy Champion Buchanan and Jerry Edward Buchanan, were his guiding lights throughout his life. Their love, support, and encouragement made him the remarkable individual he grew to be. His sister, Beth Williams, and her husband Ben and their children, shared a special bond. Brian also held dear the memories of his beloved grandparents: Wilbur and Kathleen Champion, Fred and Julia Buchanan. Their legacy of love continues to live on in the hearts of those they left behind.
In addition to his immediate family, Brian leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends whose lives he touched deeply. Travis and Dereama Ruffin served as Brian's mother and father-in-law, providing him with unwavering support throughout the years. His sister-in-law Natalie Montero and brother-in-law G Montero stood by his side as confidantes and companions through thick and thin. Brian's presence will forever be missed by numerous nieces and nephews who knew him as a source of wisdom and laughter, while his niece Aleigha Harris held a special place in his heart.
Beyond his professional achievements and familial bonds, Brian had numerous passions that brought him immense joy. He found solace in the simplicity of nature while fishing or hunting. The thrill of exploration lured him towards traveling to new places far and wide. Most of all, Brian cherished spending time with loved ones - whether it was engaging in heartfelt conversations or simply basking in their presence.
