Carl Vernon McAbee, Jr

Carl Vernon McAbee, Jr., born on November 20, 1943, peacefully passed away at his home on March 23, 2024. 

He was a devoted husband of 60 years to Carolyn Phillips McAbee and a loving father, grandfather and friend. Carl dedicated 30 years of his life to the Timken Co. in Lincolnton, NC, before retiring. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Vernon McAbee Sr., his mother, Leona Keever McAbee and his brother Robert David McAbee. 

Carl is survived by his sister, Susan Johnson, daughters Carla Alford, Kelli McAbee, Karri McAbee, sons Chad McAbee (Carol), Christopher McAbee (Kari) and 15 cherished grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by his sister-in-law, Beth McAbee and lifelong friends Orban and Carolyn Goff. 

Carl was not only a dedicated family man but also an avid fan of the CB radio community. His warmth, kindness and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

A gathering for family and friends will take place on Wednesday March 27, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Kidney Fund in Carl's honor.
