Carol Ann Goodrum Tomlinson

Carol Ann Goodrum Tomlinson, born February 26, 1932, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 27, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She will be remembered with love by those closest to her and by all who shared in her long life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Goodrum and Celeste Caldwell Goodrum, and by her beloved husband of 70 years, Walter C. Tomlinson.

Carol Ann was a active member of First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Appalachian University. She was voted "Most Poplar" in school and also was head cheerleader. She was active in the Belmont Historical Society. She enjoyed drawing, painting and art. Carol also enjoyed working in her garden, spending time and cooking for her family on Sunday afternoons after church.

She was a loving, devoted and faithful wife, mother and grandmother.

She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish her memory: her children, David L Tomlinson, Nancy Carol Tomlinson Smith and husband Russell, and Walter "Barry" Tomlinson; and her grandchildren, Micaela Smith Spisak (John), Piper Tomlinson, Colby Tomlinson, and Willow Tomlinson. Their lives stand as part of the lasting legacy of love and family that surrounded Carol throughout her years.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 807 South Point Road, Belmont, North Carolina. A Celebration of Life will follow there at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend George Ragsdale officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, 607 McKnight St, Belmont, North Carolina.
