Lowell – Carolyn "Diane" Price Pope, 83, passed away on August 26, 2021, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
Diane was born on March 24, 1938. She was born in Rutherford County, North Carolina , daughter of the late Roy James Price and Doris Tate Price. Diane was the business owner of Pope's Mini Mart in Lowell alongside her husband Gordon Pope. Diane spent most of her life surrounding herself taking care of her family which she enjoyed the most. She was a proud mother of 3 children, grandmother of 3 grandchildren, and 2 Great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Parkwood Baptist Church, a member of the XYZ Club, enjoyed dancing at the senior dance events, and was a member of Young at Heart Club in McAdenville.
Survivors include her companion of 10 years, Ed Huggins; her children, sons, Greg Pope and wife Debbie Pope of Gastonia; Barry Pope of Lowell; daughter, Crystal Armstrong and husband Scott Armstrong of Gastonia; grandchildren, Jordan Pope, Hunter Bourgeois, and fiancé Trevor Burdick of Lawndale, Hayden Bourgeois and fiancée Emily Felton of Cherryville, Amy Armstrong and fiancé Hunter Flowers of Gastonia; great-grandchildren Luke Burdick, Westin Burdick, and Bella Armstrong; sister, Janice Huffstetler and sister-in-law, Marguerite Tolbert of Lowell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gordon William Pope; brother, James Caldwell Price of Dallas, North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Don Huffstetler of Belmont and Bill Tolbert of Lowell.
The family will receive family and friends 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 29th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home, and the Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor David Belle Isle officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Four Seasons Section with the releasing of the doves.
