Carolyn Stephenson Robinson

Carolyn Stephenson Robinson, age 91, passed away peacefully with her loving son by her side on May 16, 2026 at Burlington's Brookdale Memory Care. Carolyn was born on March 22, 1935 to the late William Oscar and Annie Rogers Stephenson in Gastonia, N.C. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter, Deborah Robinson Morgan, husband Grady Gene Robinson, and four brothers, Jerry Marshall Stephenson, Charles Ray Stephenson, Kenneth E. Stephenson, and William Harold Stephenson.

Carolyn was a member of Olney Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Gastonia High School. After graduation until she retired, Carolyn worked with James E. Moser, DDS and Thomas J. Swilling, DDS as a dental assistant, both located in Gastonia. After retirement Carolyn enjoyed church activities, manicuring her yard, helping others, making her famous fudge and cheese stars and visiting her grandchildren. Carolyn had a wide circle of friends in Gastonia and many brother and sister in-laws that were the recipient of her gentle grace and genuine kindness throughout her life.

Carolyn is survived by her pride and joy, son William Derek Robinson, wife Sabre of Burlington, N.C., grandsons Joseph Crawley Robinson, of Burlington N.C. and William Jobe Robinson, wife Nina of Greenville, N.C., and granddaughter, Anders Louise Robinson of Wilmington, N.C. Also, surviving a sister-in-law, Ilene Stephenson of Florida and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn will be remembered for the unconditional love she gave so freely to anyone she met and those that she called friends and family.

The family will receive friends at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054  from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. on Tuesday May, 26, 2026. Followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Joan C. Martin officiating. Interment will follow the service at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 251 Olney Church Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056.
