Charles DeWayne Carr

Charles DeWayne Carr, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13 2023 at The Greens, 969 Cox Road, Gastonia with his family by his side. 

 

He was born in Gaston County on December 17, 1929 and is the son of the late George Washington Carr and Thelma Stanford and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Tallent, Dorothy Hamrick, Frankie Hall, Walter Carr and George Douglas Carr, Herman Carr.

 

Charles was a graduate of Cramerton High School, where he was in the Beta Club.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He retired with over 25 years of dedicated service at Pharr Yarns, and many years at Burlington Industrials. He enjoyed                                       spending time with family especially his niece Larenda and friends.  

 

He is survived by his brother, Billy Carr and wife, Brenda, special nieces and nephews, Larenda Carr, Clay and Pam Carr, Cindy and Tim Bynum, numerous other wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service

Funeral Services will be 2:00p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David MacEachern officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Singing Tower section with Military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 2200 Auten Road, Gastonia, NC  28054
