Charles Raymond Groves

Charles Raymond Groves, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away on October 2, 2023, at his residence. Born on November 17, 1972, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Charles brought joy and laughter into the lives of those around him. He was a compassionate and caring individual who had an extraordinary impact on the people fortunate enough to know him.

Charles's professional journey was one defined by passion and dedication. For over 27 years, he proudly worked for Tindol Ford-Subaru. His commitment to his work was unmatched, and he took great pride in ensuring that everything ran smoothly at the dealership. Charles cherished his role under the leadership of Natalie and cherished the quality time spent with his team players at Tindol.

Outside of work, Charles had a zest for life that was truly inspiring. He found solace and excitement in the company of his friends during their many adventurous rides on motorcycles. The freedom and thrill of these rides brought immense joy to his heart.

Nature held a special place in Charles's heart as well. Whether it was relaxing on sandy shores or venturing out into the wilderness for a camping trip, he found peace in exploring all that Mother Nature had to offer. Additionally, football held a special place in Charles's heart. He relished every game day alongside fellow Panthers enthusiasts and avid supporters of the sport.

A man of diverse interests and talents, Charles also had an incredible passion for music and served as the unofficial D.J. for his family and friends, bringing people together through sound waves that resonated with their souls. Furthermore, he took pleasure in curating unique collections. He had quite the collection of flashlights and pocket knives.

When it came to relationships, Charles was truly one of a kind. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel like they had been his friend for a lifetime, as he never met a stranger. He cherished the moments spent with his family and his dear friends from Hunter Huss High School, whose bonds have remained unbreakable over the years.

Charles's proudest accomplishments were his children, Brandt and Hannah. They brought boundless joy and purpose to his life, and he always took immense pride in their achievements. He truly loved John Schmidt, Hannah's husband, as his own son.  As a devoted husband, Charles shared over 26 years of profound love and happiness with his wife April Hall Groves. Their unwavering commitment to each other served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

With heavy hearts, Charles's family bids him farewell. He is survived by his parents, Harry Brandt Groves Jr. and Charlene Plyler Groves; brother Harry B. Groves III and wife Amy, along with their son Clay; mother-in-law June Hall and her mother Trula Ridley; brother-in-law Danny Brooks and sister-in-law Shanna Brooks; nephew Grant, and nieces Carson and Ava; aunt Emmy Morgan; aunt and uncle Billy and Sandy Bryson along with their son Tim Keener and his family; as well as his beloved dogs Kuechly and Chewy.

During his final moments surrounded by loved ones, Charles left behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever. His infectious laughter and wit, compassionate nature, and unwavering love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
