GASTONIA - Clarence Woodward "Joe" Brackins, 83, went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2009.
A native of Erwin, Tenn., he was born Nov. 6, 1925, son of the late Fuller and Bertha Adkins Brackins.
He was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church and a member of Indian River Chapter 27 Masonic Lodge in Indialantic, Florida, where he received his 50 year pin.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita Perry and Velma Williamson, Arnold Moore; brothers, Ward Brackins, and Ernest Brackins.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Catherine Rowan Brackins; son, Jeffrey Mark Brackins of Easley, S.C.; daughters Alice Dawn Coombs and Vicki Lynn Brackins of Easley, S.C.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with the Revs. Stephen Hensley and Don Motts officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
Interment will follow at Evergreen, A Quiet Place.
