Clinton Owen Seegers, 80, of Cramerton passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, leaving behind his loving wife of 40 years Ava Kathryn Jones Seegers, his beloved sons; Andy Fitzpatrick and wife Tina of Dallas NC; Sam Seegers and wife Amanda of Mint Hill NC, grandson Logan, granddaughter Cadence and her husband Levi, and grandson Brady; Jeff Fitzpatrick and wife Michelle of Leland NC, granddaughter Mason and grandson Landon; Patrick Seegers and wife Lisa, granddaughter Sara and her partner Max, and grandson Andrew; sisters Patsy Pennel of Greer SC and Larolyn Zylic of Italy and their families; and countless friends.

Clinton was born February 18,1946 in Charlotte, North Carolina to George Samuel and Anna Davis Seegers. He was the third child, preceded by older brother George Jr. and older sister Patsy, and was followed by younger sister Larolyn. The family lived in a small home on Goodwin Avenue in Charlotte.

He attended Chantilly Elementary School, where he was introduced to the drums—a skill he cultivated throughout his life. He was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps, traveling the east coast to perform in parades. His musical involvement continued well into middle age, as he played in several bands and performed at weddings.

Clinton moved on to Eastway Junior High, then Garinger High School where he lettered in football and met the woman who would become his second wife, Kathy. He went on to the University of South Carolina where he earned a degree in Biology. After college, he tried his hand at chemistry with a dairy company, then sold televisions for Allison Erwin, and taught high school in Charlotte before joining and, for a time, running the family business, the Chair Place, a custom furniture manufacturing company.

Somewhere in there he met his first wife, Dian Torrence. She was the sister of his best friend Bob Farr’s long time girlfriend and eventual wife Pat. Clinton and Dian married in 1968 and, while the marriage did not last, it produced two sons, Patrick and Sam. When the relationship faltered, Clinton stepped up to raise the two boys as a single father.

Clinton brought up both boys to play sports and somehow got them back and forth to tryouts, practice, and games. On one of those occasions, Clinton and Kathy met again. Kathy’s oldest son Jeff was a teammate of Clinton’s youngest boy, Sam. Kathy was also a single parent raising two boys. As they got to know one another, Clinton and Kathy realized they had a lot in common. The former schoolmates fell in love and married in 1985, uniting the two families.

The family moved out of the Charlotte hustle—first to Belmont, then settled in Cramerton, where they really made a life for themselves. Clinton and Kathy started several successful businesses together, giving opportunities to their children. Clinton also served as a town commissioner and a fire department officer prior to retirement.

Clinton loved fishing and spent many hours on the banks of the South Fork and on the North Carolina coast where he often seemed to be the only one catching fish.

He loved playing the stock market, waking up early for CNBC and spending all day analyzing and trading. He was a huge note-taker, filling shelves with notebooks on his trades.

Clinton retained his love of education and teaching. He spent much of his later years mentoring and tutoring students of all ages. He seemed to always be working on mastering and simplifying concepts so others could better understand them.

He was a keen observer with a logical and analytical mind. His presence will not soon be forgotten and he will be keenly missed.

Clinton developed heart disease early in adulthood and endured many procedures in the past 25 years. He passed away as the doctors were working to give him a little more time fishing, trading stocks, watching tv with Kathy, and sharing meals with his kids and grand kids.

Clinton was predeceased by his parents and older brother.
