Clyde William Smith

Clyde William Smith, 89, of Dallas, had his faith made sight on August 3, 2023.

Clyde was a loving husband of 70 years, a devoted father, and cherished "Pawpaw".He was born in Dallas, NC on December 25, 1933 to John and Dicie Huggins Smith. Throughout his life, Clyde lived out the example of a true servant leader.

He served in the Air Force and National Guard, retiring as a Tech. Sgt.

He afterward became the Manager of Technical Operations with Cox Media Group (WSOC-TV) for 37 years.

He served his community as a deacon of Hardin Community Baptist Church for over 40 years in which he cared especially for widows and families, broadening his service with the Baptist Men in disaster relief missions in retirement and more.

Clyde was a leader, mentor, and wonderful friend to many. Yet, in all of his accomplishments and deeds, Clyde humbly pointed all things back to his Savior and King, Jesus Christ.

Clyde is preceded in death by his son, Roger William Smith, daughter, Pamela  Smith Grooms, and brother, Leonard C Smith.

Clyde is survived by his adoring wife, of 70 years Rachel Moore Smith; Son, Steven Smith; granddaughters, Kathrine Sams (Johnny), of Linwood; Katie Diane Steil (Gabe), of Belmont; grandson, Christopher Grooms of Charlotte, precious great grandchildren, Rachel, Adalynne, and Charles, and siblings Carol Koontz, Madeline (Thales) Davis, Doug (Patricia) Smith, Danny (Carmen) Smith.

The family will receive friend from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm. and service at 3:00 pm. At Hardin Community Baptist Church, 548 Hardin Rd, Dallas, NC 28034, on Saturday, August 5, 2023 with the Reverends Justin Driver and Charles Ingle officiating.

A graveside service will follow at the Hardin Community Baptist Church Cemetery, Dallas.
