Colleen Floyd Ervin

Bobbie Colleen Floyd Ervin, 89, was welcomed into her heavenly rest Tuesday, April 16, 2024. 

Colleen was born in Gaston County daughter of Albert R. Floyd and Elsie Gantt Floyd. She was the last surviving of nine siblings of the Floyd family. She was married in 1951 to Willie L. Ervin Jr., who passed in July 2022. Theirs was a great love for over 70 years. We firmly believe dad has been getting their mansion ready in heaven, in patiently awaiting being reunited with mom. She is also preceded in death by her son Kenneth D. Ervin, who passed in November 2023, and  a granddaughter, Michelle Ervin.

Colleen was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a godly woman, a founding lifetime member of Cramerton Freewill Baptist Church. Active in her church for over 70 years she served as a Sunday school teacher, president of Happy Heart Senior Group, and the first Director of the church daycare.

She will be dearly missed by her loving children, Joy E. Owens and husband David, Chris Ervin and wife Susan, her special niece Pam Roberts, who was a treasured loving caregiver for “Aunt Colleen”. She was adored as “Mawmaw Colleen” by her grandchildren, Matt and Fran Owens, Cindy and Todd Burton, Emily and Brad Frazier, Joseph Ervin, Courtney and Florian Fuchs, Scott Ervin, and wife Ashley Frey. 

Spoiling her eight great grandchildren was the delight of her life, and a great joy was recently becoming a great, great grandmother.

Family and friends will gather from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Cramerton Freewill Baptist Church 426 Woodlawn Ave. Cramerton, NC 28032. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Josh Baer officiating. Committal will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Mausoleum of Peace. Pallbearers  will be Matthew Owens, Joseph Ervin, Scott Ervin, Todd Burton, JT Hamrick and Danny Botts.
