Dana Rankin Bynum

Gastonia – Dana Marie Rankin Bynum, was reunited with her Lord and Savior on September 20, 2022, at her residence with her loving husband and daughters by her side.

She was born on May 19, 1949 in Mecklenburg County to the late Donald Thomas Rankin and Ruth Elizabeth Boyles Rankin. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Danny Thomas Rankin.

She enjoyed spending time with her husband and girls. Dana Marie enjoyed riding in her classic cars with Butch by her side making many memories together.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and MawMaw.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband the love of her life of almost 54 years, Alfred Reid “Butch” Bynum; her loving daughters, Amy Brooks and husband Greg, Shelley Rhodes and husband Jason; the apple of her eye, grandsons, Daniel and Wyatt Brooks; sister and brother-in-law,  Kathy and Robbie Simpson and many wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2022 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service

Interment will be at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with the Releasing of the Doves.

Pallbearers will be Greg Brooks, Daniel Brooks, Wyatt Brooks, Jason Rhodes and Robbie Simpson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gaston Hospice, P.O. Bos 3984, Gastonia, NC  28054.
