Danny Roger Harvell, 78, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Danny was born in Gastonia on March 15, 1943 and is the son of the late Earl and Bertha Lane Harvell.
Danny is a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Sunshine Uniform Service. Danny was an avid golfer, he had 11 Hole-in-Ones, winner of over 70 Amateur Golf Tournaments, winner of the G. W. Rockett Golf Tournament.
After retirement, Danny and Martha loved to go on Cruises. He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and is a member Masonic Lodge #208, Clover, South Carolina.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Martha Ballew Harvell; two sons, Shane Harvell, Todd Harvell (Angie); two bonus sons, Trey Adams (Renee'), Curtis Adams (Amanda); one brother, Boyce Harvell (Mary Ann); one sister, Delphia Costner; 12 grandchildren, Shane, Hannah, Jordan, Aaron, Abby, Logan, Dawson, Chris, Dixie, Elizabeth, Scott and Kyle; numerous great grandchildren.
The family will receive family and friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Duncan officiating.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, masks will be required.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Honors by the North Carolina National Guard and the Gaston Honor Guard. Masonic Graveside Rites by Masonic Lodge #208 will follow the graveside service with the Releasing of the Doves.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Danny Duane Harvell; three brothers,Talmadge "Pickle" Harvell, Bobby Harvell, Kenny Harvell.
