Darlene Meeler Anderson

Darlene dedicated most of her life to working in the textiles industry, where her passion and steadfast commitment left a lasting impression. Yet, beyond her career, it was her role as a matriarch that defined her. She treasured spending time with her family, with special affection for her grandchildren—Chelsea Wade, Brooke Anderson, Taylor Anderson, and Jada Meeler—and her great-granddaughter, Nadia “Boo Bear” Lutterodt. Known affectionately to all as "Maw-maw," Darlene’s heart was open to every child, her love extending generously to all the children, family and friends around her.

Her home was a haven filled with laughter, creativity, and happiness. Darlene’s artistic spirit shone through her love of drawing and crafts of all kinds, a hobby she embraced with enthusiasm and shared with those close to her. She found immense joy in family trips, whether to the serene mountains or the calming shores of the beach, always accompanied by the joyful company of loved ones.

Darlene was a woman who embodied happiness and a bubbly spirit. She approached life with a smile and a tender heart, creating warm memories that will forever brighten the lives of those who knew her. Her proudest accomplishments were her sons, Keith Anderson and wife, Krista, Brandon Meeler, and her grandchildren—who were the light of her life. She shared fifty fulfilling years of marriage with her devoted husband, Danny Anderson, who along with her sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and her mother-in-law, Lure Anderson, survive her and carry on her legacy of love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Louise Pressley Meeler, and her siblings, Kay Walker, Roxanne Meeler, Ronnie Meeler, and Toby Meeler. While these beloved family members rest in peace, the many nieces, nephews, and friends she cherished continue to honor her memory and the joy she brought into their lives.

A visitation to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place at the same location from 5:30 PM in the Chapel with Pastor Jeff Walker officiating.

Darlene’s life was a testament to the beauty of family bonds, the power of love, and the radiant spirit of a woman who was truly loved by all. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and joy. In her memory, may we all find comfort in the "always happy times" she gifted us and carry forward her extraordinary warmth.
