David Hollis Magee

David Hollis Magee, 71, of Gastonia, NC, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 3, 2026, at Juniper Gardens Care Center. David was born May 10, 1955, in Gastonia. He graduated from Hunter Huss High School, attended Gardner Webb and Western Carolina University before becoming a professional audio and lighting engineer in the Charlotte area. His next venture took him to Lake Wylie, SC where he started and ran a contracting business up until the pandemic. Along the way, he miraculously overcame several life threatening events, a broken neck in his 20’s and a traumatic head injury in his 40’s, while always managing to keep a positive outlook. He was known for being a fun loving kind character that would give you the shirt off his back. There was nothing that he loved more than his family, friends and a good time. He is survived by his brother Bob Magee, sister Lisa Magee, and nephews Russell and Quin, grand-niece and nephew Leighton and Foster. A memorial gathering will be TBD.
