Bessemer City – Derek Wayne Badger passed away suddenly on May 23, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gaston County, on September 9, 1974 to Pam Grubbs Badger and the late Doug Badger. In addition to his father he is also preceded in death by his Grandpaw Manley Grubbs; his grandparents Larry and Myrtle Badger, Dot and Bill Hudson; niece Tori Hanif.

Derek enjoyed sitting on his front porch and around the bonfire telling stories. He also enjoyed fishing with his sons, daughter and nephews, and watching his sons play baseball. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Derek worked as a truck driver for Oliver & Son Trucking for many years.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of sixteen years Jackie; his children Zack, Sami, Bradyn Badger, Amber Bumgardner, Austyn (Courtney) Hanif and Chandler (Kayla) Hanif; his grandchildren Asher and Azela Hanif; and two sisters Tequila Badger (Adam Sellers), and Candy Self; mother Pam Badger; grandmother Faye Grubbs; and a number of nieces and nephews especially Dustin Brown and Mason Hanif and his best friend Jason Graham and many others.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm, Tuesday, June 2nd at Garver Memorial Baptist Church 1920 Modena Street Gastonia, NC with a 1:00 pm Celebration of Life Service to follow with Pastor David Stewart officiating.
PRIVATE Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery 1462 Armstrong Ford Road Belmont, NC.


Pallbearers will be Dustin Brown, Jason Graham, Dylan Hill, Seth McGill, Jaleel Daniels, and Donnell Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the funeral home for his expenses.
