Gastonia – Donald “Don” Foy, 89 passed away on May 25, 2025. He was born in Gaston County on September 7, 1935 to the late Livie Lindsay Foy and Willie Maude Hanna Foy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Nell Wilson Foy; siblings, Dorothy “Dot” Clark, Polly Withers, Betty Cloninger, Mary Frances Foy; and a brother-in-law, Harold “Clem” Colston.

He was a member of First ARP Church, He served as Elder, Deacon and taught Sunday school in the ARP denomination. Don was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his grandchildren. Don adored and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed trips to the beach and Los Angeles. Don loved working in the yard; he always had a big garden. He also enjoyed reading and whatever his grandchildren were doing. Don made a career in the Textiles community working in sales. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Jane Foy Painter and her husband Phil; his wonderful grandchildren, Samuel Foy Painter and wife Eryn, Kathryn Painter Neinast and husband William; Joseph Thomas Painter and wife Neely; great grandchildren, Alice and J.T. Painter, Olivia and Virginia Neinast; siblings, Harvey Foy (Betty), Helen Littlejohn (Richard), Patricia Carver (Vernon); sister-in-law, Nancy Colston; and a brother-in-law, Pete Clark; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 29th at Pisgah ARP Church Cemetery, 3600 Linwood Road, Gastonia with Pastor Matt Kuiken officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials may be made to First ARP Church, 317 South Chester Street, Gastonia, NC 28052 and/or Crisis Pregnancy Center, 700 Robinson Road, Gastonia, NC 38056 and St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
