Donald Love McGinnis, Sr., a beloved figure and dedicated family man, passed away on May 21, 2025, at The Greens at Gastonia, surrounded by his family. Born on January 26, 1939, in Gaston County, Don led a life characterized by hard work, familial love, and unwavering dedication. Don pursued a career in Commercial Maintenance, serving his community and showcasing his strong work ethic throughout his life. His commitment to his family was reflected not only in his professional life but also in the joy he found in spending quality time with his grandchildren. Memories of laughter, shared stories, and cherished moments will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
A member of Fraley Memorial Baptist Church. His passions included fishing, exploring the mountains, and enjoying NASCAR, pursuits that brought him joy and connected him with nature.
Don served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, demonstrating a commitment to his country that paralleled his dedication to his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will be eternally remembered.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Linda Terry McGinnis; his children, Donald "Donnie" Love McGinnis, Jr., Sabrina Isenhour (Vonn), and Angie Windsor (Alton); along with his wonderful grandchildren, Staci Keopraseuth (Thanome), Brayden McGinnis, and Lauren Wise; and great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Kierra Lea, Bella, and Easton. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Claire Moton McGinnis and brothers, Reid McGinnis and Bill McGinnis, whose memories remain treasured by his family.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 11:30 PM to 12:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church, located at 3025 Fraley Church Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054 with Reverend Charles Keller officiating. Don will be missed dearly, but his spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who loved him. Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Army and Gaston County Honor Guard.
