Dorman Geston Figaro

Dorman Geston Figaro, aged 73, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024 at Robin Johnson Hospice House with his loving family by his side. 

He was born in Mecklenburg County on December 21, 1950 to the late Vincent S. Figaro and Shirley Honeycutt Figaro. 

Dorman proudly served in the US Army National Guard and enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, going fishing, and was a talented woodworker. He was a big baseball fan and loved the Atlanta Braves. Dorman and his family loved to take vacations to the mountains and the beach. He loved his dog Zoey and his family more than anything else. Dorman leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his beloved wife, Linda Gardin Figaro, he is survived by his son, Matthew Figaro; daughters, Heather Figaro (Caleb Bucher), Tamesha Surratt; brother, Vincent C. Figaro (Brenda); sisters, Ellen Solbakken (Steve) and Mary Skipper (Donald Jay); grandchildren, Kyrsten Figaro and Tyler Figaro, Nyah Holland, Caleb Holland, Destini Holland; and his great-grandchildren, Madilyn Helms.  

The family will receive friends at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 7, 2024 prior to the Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Watson and Pastor Ronnie Stinson officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gaston Hospice and St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.  

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. B. Gbadamosi, Dr. J. Hendler, and Robin Johnson House for the care and support they showed for Dorman and the family.
