Douglas Lee Hawkins

Douglas Lee Hawkins, 64, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on April 26, 1962, to Betty Summey Hawkins and the late Craig “Gene” Eugene Hawkins.

Doug attended Hunter Huss High School and enjoyed attending Old Pathway Baptist Church. He enjoyed old cars and motorcycles, and was an avid coin collector. Most of all, he loved his family and leaves many happy memories to be cherished.

He is survived by his loving mother, Betty Summey Hawkins; wonderful brother, Larry Hawkins; uncle Ronnie Hawkins (Becky); many cousins and aunts and uncles; and his best friend, Danny Abernathy.

The family will receive friends at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel with Pastor Jim Carver officiating. Burial will take place at Gaston Memorial Park, in the New Masonic Section, with the releasing of the doves following the service. Pallbearers will be Danny Abernathy, Shane Hawkins, Nolan Hawkins, Eric Hawkins, Joe Hawkins, and Camden Hawkins.
