Dallas- Earl Ervin Friday, Jr., 80, passed away suddenly on November 16, 2024 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Gaston County on September 12, 1944, son of the late Earl Ervin Friday and Ezelee Spake Friday, and big brother to Michael Spake Friday who passed on January 19, 2018.
Earl was a lifelong Christian, baptized and joined East Baptist Church in 1956 and 1960 transferred to Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church until his death. He served numerous committees and as a deacon. Earl married Janice Haas after graduation and they were married 60 years. Earl’s hobbies were cars, cars, and more cars. He and Janice bought and sold over 81 cars during their marriage. Earl was a Mason and belong to Gaston Lodge 263 AM & FM, he raised to degree of Master mason on March 2, 1979. Earl retired from CMC Steel-Owen Steel with over 40 years of dedicated service.
Earl is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janice Haas Friday; son and daughter-in-law, Earl Ervin “Butch” Friday, III and Lisa Womble Friday; daughter and son-in-law, Angie Friday Houser and husband Stacy Houser; grandchildren, Brandon Friday and wife Brittan, Ashley Carpenter, and Samuel Houser; and his great grandchildren, Caiden Friday and Jaxson Greene; brother-in-law, Ronnie and wife Gail Haas; and many wonderful friends and other family.
A Memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Heath Honeycutt officiating.Family and friends will gather following the service in the annex of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Long Creek Church Road, Dallas, NC 28034
