Eddie Dean Smith

Clover – Eddie Dean Smith, 65, passed away January 4, 2023 due to a fatal car accident on Lowell Bethesda Road.  

He was born on April 28, 1957 in Gaston County to the late Otis and Jean Leatherman Smith.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Carley Smith, and his brother, Jimmy Smith.

Eddie loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He enjoyed motorcycles, racing, and shooting pool.  He worked for 10 years at Southwood Realty.

Eddie is survived by his sister, Donna Smith McGee of Clover SC and his children; two daughters, Amanda S. Clemons of Gastonia NC, and Chasity Smith of Blacksburg SC; two sons, James (Jimmy) Lee Smith of Lowell NC, and Cody Dean Smith of Stanley NC; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a nephew and a great nephew;

The family will receive friends Saturday January 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday January 15, 2023 at 12 Noon in the Withers and Whisenant Chapel with Pastor Mike Criswell officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. Pallbearers will be Terry McGee, Chris Duncan, Tim Smith, Jayden Smith, TC McGee, Jimmy Smith, Layten Clemons and Bobby Branch.
