Gastonia – Edward L. Waldinger, 91, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Erie County, Pennsylvania to the late Edward F. Waldinger and Christine Alfieri Waldinger. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan; brothers, Donald, Gerald, Lawrence, Arnold, and David; and his sister, Frances.
Edward was a man who truly loved being outdoors, going on hikes, working outdoors, and exercising at the YMCA. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity to help serve his community until he was in his mid-eighties. Edward was also an aviation enthusiast and at age seventy, he began to take lessons to fly ultra-lite aircraft.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Eleanor; sons, Gary and Michael; daughters, Barbara, Lisa and husband Steve, Stephanie and husband Dave; three granddaughters, Sara, Michelle, and Celeste; and his sister, Bernadine.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
