Elizabeth June Wells

Elizabeth June Wells, 80, passed away on January 18, 2026 at her residence in Gastonia, North Carolina.

She was born in Gaston County on May 16, 1945 to the late Luther and Mary Shehane. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, David Truman Wells; and her brothers, Jack Shehane and Bob Shehane.

June enjoyed going shopping and tending to her beautiful flower garden at her home. She loved caring for her dogs, Blue and Ben and cat, Little Girl. Most of all, June loved her family, especially her grandbabies and great grandbaby.

She is survived by her sons, Nathan Wells (Ripa) and Eric Wells (Kristen); sister, Doris Storey; grandchildren, Colin Wells, Zander Wells, Mason Wells, Lena Wells, and Jackson Wells; and her great-grandchild, Luca Payton.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery, 1462 Armstrong Ford Road, with Pastor Chris Howell officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
