Dallas, NC - Emily Kathryn Cloninger Butler, 42 passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 unexpectedly at her residence in Newport, Tennessee from natural causes. Emily was born and raised in Dallas, NC and was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She was a very loving and kind person; she never met a stranger and always had a big beautiful smile on her face and a sweet little laugh. Emily enjoyed trips to the beach with family and friends growing up and loved being a Little Orangeman Cheerleader.
She was born in Gaston County on April 12, 1978 to Vicki Ratchford Cloninger and Fred Horace Cloninger of Dallas, NC. She was a graduate of North Gaston High School. Emily had a wonderful career at Walmart in North Carolina and Tennessee. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister and friend.
Emily was preceded in death by her grandparents, Claudette Ratchford, Sadie and Robert "GeBo" Cloninger; and uncle, Scott Cloninger.
Emily is survived by her loving children, Kailey and Aiden Butler, husband, Jason Butler all of Newport, TN; sister, Amy Cloninger Payne and husband Mike of Gastonia; niece, Taylor Standridge and her daughter McKenna Grace Warg; and nephew, Austin Standridge all of Rock Hill, SC; her mother, Vickie Cloninger of Gastonia, NC and father, Fred H.Cloninger of Dallas, NC; Grandfather, W. Kenneth Ratchford of Gastonia, NC; In-laws, David and Tammie Butler of Bybee, TN; uncle, Kenny Ratchford and wife, Catherine of Charlotte, NC; aunt, Roma Byrd and husband Rogie of Dallas, NC; aunt, Roxann Jimison and husband Scott of Gastonia, NC; uncle, Gerry Cloninger and aunt, Dottie Cloninger Brooks both of Dallas, NC; ,brother-in-law, Chris (Amber) Butler, special grandmother GG, Blenda Fox, and special papaw, Donald Butler; and numerous cousins and many wonderful friends in Gaston County.
Emily's family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with
A Celebration of Life service to follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel with remembrances by her family and friends.
A Graveside service was held in Tennessee for Emily on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 11:00 am in Union Cemetery with Pastor Willie Winters officiating.
