Floyd Lee Cabe

Gastonia – Floyd Lee Cabe. 92, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2023 at Caromont Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born in Gaston County on December 15, 1930 to the late Lester and Drucilla Ayers Cabe. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Parton, Barbara “Bobbie” Wilson, and Carolyn Henderson.

Floyd was a good man, born in depression-era Gastonia and later joined the US Air Force. After his military service he went on the work for the US Government for 25 years. He retired to San Diego and later returned to his hometown of Gastonia with is beloved family. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the East China Sea Rollers in Okinawa, Japan. Those who were fortunate enough to know him considered him a good man. He leaves many happy memories that will be cherished by his family and all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Chris Cabe; daughter, Jeanne-Marie Cabe; sisters, Faye Allen, Joyce Swicegood, Patsy Messimer, Helen McCaskill, and Shirley Brickett; and his grandchildren, Lori Cabe and Brianna Brangman.

The family will receive friends Wednesday March 8, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday March 9, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 708 St. Michael Lane, Gastonia. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
