Gastonia – Frances Carolyn Hovis Beard, 90, entered into heaven on November 8, 2022. She passed peacefully at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Frances was born October 22, 1932 in Gaston County, to the late Paul Hovis and Eunice Davis Hovis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Hovis. She was a loving and doting mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Frances was a devoted Christian and a member of Dallas Baptist Church for over 30 years.
She loved to spend her time reading her Bible. She was a lifelong seamstress who worked in the bridal department at Mary Jo’s Cloth store for many years serving the world with bridal gowns and veils. In her earlier days she was known for making Rick Flare’s robes and often making things for family and friends.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie McDaniel and husband Danny, Melinda Dahlberg and husband Eric, and Lisa Houser; her grandchildren Jennifer McDaniel, Ethan Houser, and Carolyn Houser; her brother, Tony Hovis and wife Greta; and a sister, Annette Whitesides; as well as many dear, nephews, cousins, and friends.
All services will be private.
