1942 – 2022
Dallas – Gerald David Thornburg, Sr., passed away on April 26, 2022, at the age of 79. Born in Gaston County, NC on December 19, 1942. Gerald was the son of the late Grady and Mattie Thornburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Kenneth Lamar Thornburg.
Gerald graduated from Dallas High School and Gaston College. He retired as a Supervisor from Wix Corporation, Bessmer City after more than 40 years of dedicated service. He loved horses, competing and winning many ribbons and trophies. Gerald loved camping in the mountains while listening to bluegrass and gospel music.
Gerald is survived by his three sons, Gerald David Thornburg, Jr., Rev. Charles Byron Thornburg and wife Missy; and Michael Steven Thornburg (Kimberly Myers);
3 grandchildren, Jonathan Thornburg, Katelyn Thornburg, and Caleb Thornburg; also surviving his sister, Patricia West, and special friend, Faye Lail.
Gerald's funeral and burial will be held in Tennessee. All services will be private.
