Geri Hammond Lindsay

Geri Hammond Lindsay, lovingly known as Geri, passed away on August 20, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. She was born on July 27, 1955, in Rockford, Illinois, to the late Harold and Patricia Heagney Hammond. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Jim and Mike Hammond; and her sister, Kay Cummings.

Geri had a passion for travel and cherished her trips to Charleston and visits to Illinois and Michigan to spend time with family. She loved to talk on the phone with family and friends. However, above all else, she was a dedicated caregiver to her daughter Katie throughout their 41 years together. Geri's unwavering love and support were evident in every aspect of their lives. In addition to her proudest accomplishment as a mother, Geri found great happiness in being a loving wife. She shared almost five decades of marriage with her beloved husband Jerry Lindsay.

In addition to her husband, Jerry, those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Steve Hammond and his wife Karen; sisters Debra Reed and her husband Roger, Barb Cunningham and her husband Ken, Leah Rutherford and her husband Richard.

Geri's life will be celebrated through two significant events held at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia, North Carolina. The first will be a Visitation on September 6th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This will be followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating. The funeral home is located at 2916 Union Road in Gastonia, where friends and loved ones can gather to honor Geri's life and share precious memories.

Let us celebrate the beautiful life of Geri and the impact she had on all those fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love will forever shine as a beacon of light in our hearts. Though saddened by her departure, we find solace in knowing that she is now at peace, surrounded by eternal love and embraced by her heavenly family.
