Glenn Dallas Sawyer

Gastonia – Glenn Dallas Sawyer, Sr., 92, passed away on May 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Graham County, North Carolina on February 10, 1931 to the late Lee and Mary Marcus Sawyer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Moore, Helen McNamara, Lavada Silvers, Hal Sawyer, and Paul Sawyer.

Glenn was big fan of football, basketball, and Nascar. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his business travels. Glenn was the kind of man that never met a stranger and he loved all of his friends and family. He leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved him.  

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Jean Wells Sawyer; son, Kevin Sawyer and fiancée, Wendy; grandchildren, Hunter Sawyer, Braydon Sawyer; and great-grandchild, Harper Sawyer.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Sonny Farris and Pastor Josh Glandon officiating.
