1932-2022
Dallas – Gurline Compton Lewis, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2022 at her residence.
She was born in Comer, GA on December 22, 1932 to the late Guy T. Compton and Doris "Dot" King Compton. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Bette June Stallings and brother, Donald Compton.
Gurline retired from Charlotte Pediatric after many years. She was a member of Flint Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir all her life. She also sang with the Singing Christmas Tree. Gurline had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing. She was a devoted Christian and mother. She enjoyed talking and spending time with her church family and her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memories include her beloved husband of 67 years, Billy E. Lewis; her children, Michael Scott Lewis and Myra Lewis Helms; grandchildren, Jantzen Michael Lewis and Spencer Ryan Helms; 5 nieces and nephews, Cam Stallings, Tim Stallings, Laurie Medlin, Donna Compton and Jeff Compton and many great nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. and many wonderful friends
A visitation will be 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Flint Grove Baptist Church, 2017 East Ozark Avenue, Gastonia
Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13 at Forest Lawn West
