Helene Braswell Price

Helene Braswell Price joined our Daddy in heaven on Friday, December 8, 2023. She was born September 4, 1937 to Rev. Malley Levingston Braswell and Thelma Warren Braswell in Gastonia N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Kemmitt Lynn Price; siblings, Mary Lou Spearman, Patricia George, Elburn Braswell and Vickie Ledford; her grandson Justin Britton; son in law John Tatham.

She is survived by her children, Melanie Price Britton (Dan), Christine Price Huskins (Craig); caregiver and best buddy Kimberly Price Tatham (Lynn Hoover), Kevin Price (Marnie); Susan Price Jerchower (Eli); Grandchildren Daniel Britton, Katie Britton, Rodney Huskins, Summer Bledsoe (Chris), Selena Urvan (Steve), Luca Handsman (Kelli), David Jerchower and Abby Jerchower; great grandchildren, Steven Urvan and Simi Love Urvan; brother, Mike Braswell (Frankie).

Helene grew up in Gastonia, NC in the Victory Mill Village. She was a stay-at-home mother for most of her life and loved every minute of it. She fiercely loved each and every one of her children. Mama prayed for everyone every night and always said “I love you all”.

She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, especially her Thanksgiving dressing, Christmas nut rolls, potato candy and her fried chicken! She loved reading and words. She wielded words like a maestro, and jumble puzzles didn’t have a chance when Helene took them on~! She enjoyed her cowboy shows/movies and a good cold “Clank” either in her porch swing or her sun-room. She loved for the sunshine to be on her. Our mama was pure LOVE.

She especially loved when we would all get together at her house for cookouts, visits and just fun. She passed the love of harmony to her loved ones. Mama was always singing. She loved to sing and had the most beautiful voice.

“What happens on the porch stays on the porch.”

Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16^th at Evergreen Cemetery. Gathering of friends and family will be at Mama’s house, 3202 Puetts Chapel Road, following the graveside to celebrate her 86 years of life…
