Lowell – Herman L. Carr, 83, passed away on January 29, 2022, at Accordius Health Care-Gastonia after a battle with Covid-19.

He was born on March 25, 1938, in Gaston County. He was the son of the late George Washington Carr and Thelma Stanford Carr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Carr Hamrick, Louise Carr Tallent, and Frankie Carr Hall, Walter S. Carr and George Douglas Carr and his niece, Brenda T. Baucom.

Herman was a lifelong resident of Gaston County. He retired from Pharr Yarns, McAdenville NC after 36 years of dedicated service. He was a very good worker and had many years of perfect attendance. He liked birds and loved reading the National Geographic magazines. He was a very special brother to us and will be missed very much. He will be greatly missed by his niece, Larenda who called him "Uncle Hermie" whom he loved dearly.

Survived by his brothers, Charles D. Carr and Billy and his wife Brenda Carr; his special niece Larenda Carr, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 1:30 – 2:30 pm Thursday, February 3rd at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia prior to the Graveside Service. The family respectfully request that mask be worn during the visitation and graveside service.

Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Gaston Memorial Park, Singing Tower section.
