Hobart William Jenkins

Gastonia – Hobart William Jenkins, 84, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Swain County, on June 26, 1938 and was the son of the late Joseph Pepe Jenkins and Margie Barker Jenkins Evans, step father, Thomas Joe Evans. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Junior Evans; sister, Peggy Evans Moss; step-sister, Ruby Jenkins Barker; nephew, Jay Jenkins; and a niece, Dawn Jenkins.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  Hobart was self-employed for many years, working in construction. He enjoyed spending time on his farm with his family and the many cattle he had. He was loved by his neighbors and everyone that knew Hobart.  

Hobart is survived by his beloved family; brother, Jerry and wife Brenda Jenkins; sisters, Cozette Evans Morgan and Margaret Ann Evans; nieces, Jackie Sullens (Ken Theodos), and Ann LaFar; great nephew, Cody Jenkins, great niece. Stacy Jenkins-Switzer

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and other times at the nieces, Jackie Sullens, 3619 E. Club Colony Drive, Gastonia.

Funeral Service will be at 3:00p.m., Thursday, March 23 in the Chapel at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Dr. Reverend Pearl Burris-Floyd officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in the Garden of Time section with military honors by the U.S. Army and Gaston County Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be, Cody Jenkins, Jeff Switzer, Ken Theodos, Keith Ashley, Ronnie Barker, and Dale Fesperman.
