James L W Burr, Jr was born on May 15, 1954, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He was a kind-hearted and dedicated individual who touched the lives of many. James was a loving father and grandfather, always putting the needs of his family before his own. He passed away on July 2, 2023, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Throughout his life, James pursued a career as both a truck driver and an auto mechanic. His passion for vehicles started at an early age and grew into a lifelong dedication. Whether it was behind the wheel or under the hood, he had an innate talent for understanding the intricacies of automobiles. James enjoyed riding his motorcyle and spending time at High Rock Lake. His favorite time was with his grandchildren, J.J., Abbigail and Wyatt,  he loved spoiling them. He called them his hero's.

In addition to his professional endeavors, James served in the United States Marines. His time serving our country showcased his unwavering commitment and courage. It was during his military service that he learned valuable lessons about hard work, perseverance, and loyalty.

Outside of work and service, James cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. As a father and grandfather, he treasured being able to watch his family grow and thrive. His son James Christopher Burr and daughter-in-law Brandy and his wonderful grandchildren, James "J.J.", Abbigail and Wyatt were a constant source of joy for him. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Sandy and her son.

James deeply loved his parents James L W Burr, Sr and Annie Ruth Gatherings Burr. They provided him with a strong foundation of love and support that shaped the man he became. Their guidance helped shape his character and instilled in him the values he carried throughout his life.

In recent years, James resided in Lexington, NC but often visited his son as his health started to decline. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained positive and maintained a loving spirit until the very end.

James L W Burr, Jr will be remembered for many things - his dedication to family, his passion for all things automotive, and most importantly, for being a genuinely kind-hearted soul who touched everyone he encountered. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

May his spirit find peace in the eternal roads beyond as he joins the ranks of the great drivers and mechanics who came before him.
