James "Jimmy" Blair Greenlee

Gastonia:    James  “Jimmy” Blair Greenlee, 86, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.  Jim was born in Gaston County on May 17, 1936 and was the son of the late James William Greenlee and Grace Holder Greenlee and was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Greenlee.

Jimmy was a graduate of Gastonia High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the North Carolina National Guard in Gastonia, where he served as Communication Sergeant. He attended Gaston College after his tour of duty with the United States Army and received an Associate of Arts Degree.  He retired from Gaston Merchants Oil Company, where he began his career in 1954.  After retiring, he attended Gaston College and received a  Diploma for Heating and Air Conditioning Repair.

Jimmy is a member of Unity Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was responsible, along with Bill Hudson, his best friend, with most of the maintenance issues in the Church.

Jimmy always had a very warm and friendly smile and he loved his family, friends and everyone he came into contact with throughout his life.  He will be truly missed by everyone that came into contact with Jimmy.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Linda Moose Greenlee; his loving daughter and constant companion, Pamela Anne Greenlee; his loving son, Timothy Blair Greenlee.

The family will receive family and friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Memorial Celebration of Life Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Withers and Withers Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Bowers officiating with the Releasing of the Doves at the conclusion of the service.

Military Honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard and the Gaston Honor Guard prior to the Memorial Celebration of Life Service.

Private burial rites will be at a later date.
